School in our home can get a little crazy with so many children working on their schoolwork at the same time. I try to get one child going on their work while working with another. The craziness comes when they have questions and you have to switch gears from one child to the next. Sometimes it helps to have them working on the same subjects.
After trying a different math program in the past, the last couple years we have settled on using RightStart Mathematics. I wanted to find a program that actually taught the children why they were doing what they were doing. I also wanted them to understand how it all works rather than just memorizing facts. 
This program, while it could be better in the teaching script aspect, is great because it uses a very hands on approach. It took a little while to get used to teaching in a different style from which I grew up and learned, but overall this program just seems to make more sense, at least learning wise for the children.
RightStart uses a lot of visual manipulatives as well as games to solidfy math concepts. It's great to teach a concept and then have our children show us visually how they came up with the answer. That's my kind of learning style.

Looks like a great program! I love the idea of hands-on. Kate's school's idea of hands-on is making them compose math word problems. Yuck.
