Makeup Mania

MM3Katie, Marcia, and I finally made it to Makeup Mania. If you love makeup or if you even wear just a little bit this place is for you. If you aren’t in the Denver area you can check out their store online.

MM1Makeup Mania is owned and operated by Eva who used to be a makeup artist in Hollywood. (She did makeup for the ladies in the Joy Luck Club movie.) She decided to get out of Hollywood, moved back to Colorado, and opened Makeup Mania.  Halloween is HUGE for them. They spend hours and days making people up in their costumes. If you need makeup for your costumes next year this is the place to go.MM2Not only do they carry makeup, they have makeup accessories and a lot of skincare products as well.MMCarissa has blogged about Makeup Mania quite a bit so we have all been excited to visit the store in person. It just so happened that the day we went Carissa was giving a makeup lesson there. She and Eva helped us pick out colors and we played with all the fun stuff!    MM8  Here’s my loot! These La Femme eye shadows are great and at $3.00 a pop you can’t go wrong! They are long wearing shadows. After a long day they haven’t budged off of my eyes.  It doesn’t take much to get the color you are looking for either. It’s great!

I also picked up a little Graftobian Hi Def Foundation and I have to say this stuff rocks! It doesn’t take much and gives excellent coverage. I just apply with my awesome Beauty Blender and I get a nice even finish. It’s lightweight and long lasting as well.

Hooked On Beauty Swap Video

Last month Katie and I went to a makeup swap hosted by Carissa. There was a photographer there by the name of Chris. He had cameras set up everywhere and got a ton of video footage as well. He put together a super cool video of the event. Check it out HERE.  You'll get to see Carla working on my brows and Eva, from Makeup Mania doing my makeup. I finally got the chance to visit her store. More on that later. Enjoy the video!

The Beauty Blender

There was a raffle at the beauty swap that Katie and I attended.  Katie and I both won stuff! I won this Beauty Blender.
I love it! I use it everyday. It looks a little scary at first sight, but it's well worth getting and using. Have ever used beauty sponges to apply foundation? Or maybe you just use your fingers and the foundation gets all over the place. What a mess.
The Beauty Blender is incredibly easy to use. Just run it under water and squeeze out the excess liquid.  Then dip the beauty blender into a little foundation and start dabbing it onto your face. The pointed tip fits nicely in hard to reach place, like around your eyes.  If you're like me and don't like a heavy, cakey feel to your makeup, this beauty blender is what you are looking for. You control how much foundation you put on. A little bit goes a long way and it feels just like a light moisturizer. It's perfect and there's no mess.
When you're finished use the blendercleanser to clean your beauty blender. A few pumps of the cleanser and a rinse under water and you're set. Then just set your beauty blender on the pedestal to dry for the next day. It doesn't get any easier. You can also pick up a beauty blender from Make Up Mania if you are in the Denver area.

It’s a Swap!

Swap Flyer   Last week my friend Carissa  hosted a makeup swap at StudioWed! Are you getting married or know of someone who will be getting married soon? If you do, you should check this place out. It rocks! StudioWed has everything you are looking for in one place. It’s like a one stop shop.

Makeup6Anyways, I dragged Katie out for a night on the town. We had such a great time. I wish we could do this every week. Makeup2 Here’s a little sampling of some of the things up for the swap. There was a ton of stuff to choose from.Makeup3That’s Carissa in the middle. Melissa and Amy flew in from Boston to co-host. They are part of Swap.com. It’s the new thing these days, so check it out. It’s not just for makeup.Makeup My Big Fat Cupcake provided the best, out of this world cupcakes for everyone. They were fantastic. If you are in the Denver area you should pick up a few cupcakes or hunt down their cupcake truck. You can never go wrong with champagne and cupcakes!Makeup4 Not only were there cupcakes, but Eva, from Makeup Mania, was there giving makeup advice and doing makeovers, while brow expert Carla was shaping brows. Those were much needed services for me. ;)  Makeup7Steubens food truck also stopped by to feed us all.Makeup9I had a green chile cheeseburger. It was quite tasty. It was perfectly cooked and the green chile added a great kick. Makeup8

Steuben’s, so I’ve heard, is known for their gravy fries. I had to try them and they did not disappoint. Wow! If you like gravy, you’ll love these fries.

Makeup, champagne, cupcakes, burgers, fries, and great friends. What more could a girl ask for?

Hooked On Beauty

As much as I would love to take the time to research beauty products to take better care of my skin, hair, etc. I just don't have the time. My friend, Carissa does. She is a makeup artist here in the Denver area. She has tried it all. If she hasn't I am sure if ask she will hunt the product down and try it for herself. Tell her "Camera Jan" sent you! Check out her blog here. When she's not trying out the latest beauty products she is doing wedding makeup. You can find her here if you need a makeup artist for your wedding. She does stunning work! So the point of this post is for all of you local Coloradans. Carissa is Fox 31's beauty expert. She will be appearing on Fox's Good Day Colorado on Monday morning around 9:15am. And she will be playing Oprah and giving away a lot of goodies!! So be sure to watch her.
