The Corner Office and Chicago

IMG_8669.jpgThe cold weather seemed like it was never going to end. It was so dreary that my lovely husband decided we should go and see a show since it had been awhile. Chicago was in town for just a few days, so off we went. We invited some friends to join us and had a fabulous evening out. We popped in to The Corner Office for Happy Hour and an early dinner. I would definitely recommend I Love Juicy or the Prosecco that Mandy ordered. They did not disappoint. If I wasn't such a lightweight I probably would have had another.

The Crab Fritters and Hummus plate were inhaled quite quickly, so you know they had to be good.
IMG_8673.jpgWe ladies also got to sneak out and do a little shopping after dinner. Mandy and Sherry had never been shopping downtown, so it had to happen.

We ladies all ordered the same thing. The Bibimbap was incredibly flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. Gary had the Kung Pao chicken which look great too.

Here are our handsome dates!

My Lutheran Stud ordered the Chicken and Waffles, while Seth had the Lobster Mac  n' Cheese. They went American and the rest of us were a bit more exotic. ;)
IMG_8686.jpgThe Denver Center for Performing Arts is such a fun area. We love coming to watch a show here.
IMG_8692.jpgWe didn't have the best seats in the house, and the binoculars sure came in handy, but we had great time.
IMG_8696.jpgLittle did we know that John O'Hurley played Billy Flynn. He was a hoot and well remembered from his days on Seinfeld as J.Peterman.

Wicked Birthday

_MG_5796.jpgMy Lutheran Stud entered into his mid-30s yesterday. I never thought I'd see the day. ;)
_MG_5804.jpgThe children and I bought him a Rockies mug. We did a little celebrating with ice cream floats before dinner. No cake or cupcakes; just ice cream. It was kind of fun, but felt a bit off. The kids wanted to know where the cake went. My dear husband only wanted floats, no cake. Can you believe it?
_MG_5806.jpgAfter celebrating with our children the two of us headed downtown to see a show. I highly recommend that you see a show if you're ever in Denver. It's so much fun. We've been to quite a few now.
_MG_5811.jpgThis time we saw Wicked, and let me tell it was pretty wicked awesome!
It's gonna be a Wicked evening! The story line was fantastic and incredibly twisted! It really gets you thinking about The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
_MG_5813.jpgThe area around the Denver Center for Performing Arts is pretty cool. You'd never know it was tucked away in the middle of the city.
_MG_5816.jpgThere are little balconies where one can take in the view.
photo-31.jpgI snuck a little snapshot with my phone before the show started. It was a pretty incredible show. I highly recommend it and so does my Lutheran Stud!

Denver Lights

Denver
Earlier this week I was downtown for a class at the convention center.  By the end of the class as we walked outside it was already dark.
Denver2
The one thing I can't stand about winter and daylight savings time is that it is dark by 5pm. :(
Denver4
However, also during this time of year the city gets beautifully decorated.
Denver6
The lights all over the city are a delightful sight to behold, so then I don't mind that it has gotten dark so early in the evening.
Denver7
Walking around the city with the mild temperatures and seeing all the stunning lights has left me in awe of this city. It just feels so magical and makes me want to walk the streets every night.

Happy Anniversary

Jared and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. I didn't really want to go anywhere. At this point, with this pregnancy, by mid afternoon/evening I am out of energy. I could probably fall asleep by 8pm if I was allowed. Jared had planned this evening for weeks and made me go out. I am glad he did. We had a great time. We went out to dinner and then to the Denver Center for Performing Arts and took in the show Quilters. When Jared mentioned Quilters I actually thought he was a little crazy. Why would he want to see a show about quilts? Plus the whole place was probably going to be filled with charming, little old ladies. We could just as well go to church. When I asked him about it he said there aren't many shows on Wednesday evenings and he wanted to go to a show. The last time we went to a show was in college. We saw Les Miserables. That was great show.

Back to Quilters. We arrived at the theatre and as we were walking in there were quilts hanging from the ceiling everywhere. And, of course, there were little old ladies and their quilted purses filling the lobby. We even saw a couple we had met at our church. See? It's as I was predicting. The only thing I was wrong about was the show itself. It was a fabulous show! It was about pioneer women at the turn of the century and the history of quilts. It was quite intriguing. The singing was good too. This show went beyond my expectations. If it comes to your area you should think about seeing it. Lauren, it actually made me think of you when you told me about your quilting experience. And now I may be hooked on these shows. It may have to become a yearly thing for us. Although, I hear Wicked is supposed to be really good too. That's coming to Denver in October. Hint, hint Jared.
