Day 31

_MG_8954.jpg

I decided to steam clean the carpets the other day. We emptied the room of all the furniture. After the carpet dried I thought it was the perfect time for an updated stair step photo. Anna wasn't too into it. She was a little confused by it all. It's the last day of the month, so I had to add one last photo. Now I can say that I finished a 30 31 day photo challenge. Yay!

Day 31: Photo of your choice (I added this because there wasn't a day 31.)

Day 30

Me-2.jpg
My stylist and friends convinced me that I needed highlights in my hair. Here's my new cut and color (Adriane).  I'm still working on the styling part with these layers.

If you haven't already, be sure to check out the giveaway going on and enter. I think these postcards would be great Christmas cards or baby announcements as well what was already mentioned in the comment section. How fun! I think I need a set of cards now.

Day 29

_MG_8951.jpg

Look at that innocent little face. We were messing around last night and she was running right up to me and the camera. It was so cute. It's almost like she trying really hard not to smile because right after I shot this she burst out laughing.

Day 28

_MG_8838.jpg
Here some flowers from around our yard. I have no idea what any of them are called. We didn't plant any of them, but I do think the previous owners had wonderful taste in flowers and now we reap the benefits of them.

Day 27

_MG_8865.jpg
We met up with some friends at the park this morning. I caught this photo of the children from a distance. I'm trying to catch up on this photo challenge, really. How about you?

Day 26

_MG_8775.jpg
Our garden is flourishing. We've been picking zucchini and squash daily along with carrots, and are just on the verge of picking some tomatoes. I'm getting a little anxious for those tomatoes. They're orange, which means they're almost red! Anyways, here's a close up of another vegetable that has just started taking off. Do you know what it is? I'll let you have some time to guess before telling you what it is. Good luck.

Day 25

AnnaPink-2.jpgThis is Anna, the baby of the family. She can almost always be found with this pink blanket along with this look on her face because she is sucking on her tongue or bottom lip. I can't tell for sure what she actually sucking on, but it causes her to look like she's frowning which I think is adorable. We usually try and keep her blanket in her crib, but during the day she will disappear only to be found in her room getting her blanket out of her crib. I think she could be Linus' sister.

    Day 24

    _MG_6653.jpg

Earlier this spring while were were at the zoo this little monkey kept following our every move. The kids would run one direction and he would jump around and follow. It was pretty fun.

    Day 23

Pierre6Last year on our trip to South Dakota we stopped at a park in Pierre just as the sun was setting. It's my favorite time of day to shoot photographs. The light is beautiful and capturing sun flare is easy.

    Day 21

Vacation Bible School is done. Now it's margarita time.

We just finished up a week of Vacation Bible School at church. While we had so much fun and made some new friends it sure was exhausting. Friday was a great day to come home, relax, and drink margaritas!

    Day 20

    _MG_8648.jpg
Bokeh: it's what many people strive for in their photographs; it's the blurry background in photographs; it's this photo. Don't ask David to smile. If you do this is what you will get. He's our little monkey playing on the monkey bars.

    Day 19

    _MG_8538.jpg

We have carrots growing like weeds in the garden at our church as well as a little strip in our front yard. The kids just love being able to run out to the garden and pick a little snack out. This works well for me too because it's a healthy snack and I'll let them eat as many as they want.

    Day 18

    IMG_0447.jpg
I felt like I struck gold after I bought these shoes. They were just $6.24 at Target. If you know me you know that I love heels. These shoes have a small platform along with the heels. Score! They're really comfortable too. There you have it, the shoes I wore to church on Sunday. I also picked carrots and lettuce in them. That's how comfortable they really are.

I hate to admit it, but I think I'd be lost without my computer. It's so convenient to just look something up on the internet, stay in touch with friends, create spreadsheets, listen to music, watch movies, play with photos, create movies, organize my life, etc. This little piece of technology is a big part of our lives. I'd probably even bring it camping with me.  Okay, maybe I wouldn't bring it camping, but you get the idea. I usually have music playing, through the speakers in our house, all day long.

    Day 16

    _MG_8449.jpg
I shot this photo last night. It was almost pitch black outside. Would you believe it? And, another storm had just blown through. I've never done a long exposure photo before, so this is all new and exciting for me. I set up my tripod because after reading about long exposures, I guess that's what you do. Then I focused on the sky, manually, and set the shutter for 15 seconds. Voilá! That was pretty fun. I think I'll do some more long exposure shots sometime.

    Day 14

    _MG_8385.jpg
The clouds in the sky parted for just a few hours. Enough time for the kids to play outside before the evening, flooding rain was scheduled to arrive again. You get some of the most beautiful catchlights in the evening. Elizabeth was sitting outside when she said, "Hey, Mom! Come and take a smile of me, Mom!" That's her new thing when she wants you to photograph her. If you position yourself just right you can see your own reflection in your subject's eyes. Isn't that fun?

    Day 13

    Day13-2.jpg

I thought this one was going to be a little more difficult, but it turned out to be pretty fun. Here I am with 13 things:
6 kids, 6 pillow pets, and a pink blanket (Linus Anna won't go anywhere without it.)

Yay for tripods and self-timers! And that is what happens when you tell David to smile. Anna is confused and wants to take a nap. I think I shot this 5 times. Now where's your photo?

    Pierre13

The last week or so we have been sunset-less. Instead we've had violent, crazy storms in the late evenings and at night. Last night I swear our house was about to be struck by lightning. The thunder was so loud it shook our house. Our garden looks like a tornado went through and drowned it. So, for Day 12 which calls for a sunset, I bring to you a sunset from last year on our drive out to South Dakota. Pretty, isn't it? Last summer we had a blast with family in South Dakota. The kids ask when we can go back again. With all the humidity we've had lately, I almost feel like we are in SD, except for the fact that we're in the city.
