Because the Lord Commanded

BapWeb2“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19 BapWeb3 We had another baptism this past Sunday. I just love seeing little children and babies getting baptized. It makes me all twitter pated.BapWeb4

In fact, I love it so much that I will photograph any baptism at our church for free! That’s right. Free. So come on over and get baptized at our church. I also love watching my husband work. :)

He that Believes and is Baptized

 Baptism1 Baptism2
Beloved in the Lord! Last Sunday we had a triple baptism at church. My husband volunteered me to snap some photographs. That would require me to find someone to watch my children in the pew while I was in the choir loft. If you wonder what church is like for me here’s a little peek. It’s really chaotic. Kids are all over and papers are usually strewn all over the ground and on the pew. It’s just nuts, but we get through it.
BaptismBefore church I told these adorable little children that I would be photographing them. They found me in the choir loft and got pretty excited.Baptism5They had never witnessed a baptism before so they weren’t quite sure what was going on. “Receive the sign of the cross….”

“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:4)Baptism8Now this little cutie here wasn’t so sure about all of this. Baptism9  She made it through with flying colors!Baptism27 “Baptized into the death of Christ, He is a new creation. Through Christ’s redemption he shall stand.” (TLH #301)

The Gown

Gown This is Anna’s baptismal gown.  I decided to make it at the last minute.  I had always planned on making Elizabeth’s gown.  I had bought the fabric, but never got around to making it.  Lucky for Anna, as the days got closer to my due date I got a little motivated.  I started this gown a few days before she was born.Gown7Inspiration from the gown came from this pattern.  I had acquired a box of old patterns from Jared’s grandma Rosemarie and this pattern was inside. Can you tell how old it is?  I saw this pattern and instantly loved it.  I knew that the next baby we had was going to get a gown from this pattern.  It was supposed to be Elizabeth.  Oops!  Well now it’s Anna!Gown5I’m not one for a lot of lace and frills, so of course I tweaked it a little.  I love the gathered neckline, but don’t like lace around a baby’s neck.  Too itchy.  Puffy sleeves on a little girl is so adorable.  That’s why I loved this pattern so much. Gown3 Then of course to give it a little bit of a vintage feel I added lace to the bottom.  I saw this fabric and just had to have it because of the beautiful bead work on it.

Baptized into Your Name Most Holy

This morning we brought Anna Christine to the waters of holy baptism.  She wasn’t alone.  Our church got a special treat: two baptisms.  That rarely happens.Baptism2

Our dear friends Hans and Katie served as sponsors for Anna. “Receive the sign of the cross both upon your forehead and upon your heart to mark you as one redeemed by Christ the crucified.”Baptism bapstism5 Baptism7a

Baptism

This morning we had Elizabeth baptized. I didn't have time to make her a gown, so she is wearing the one I made for Rachel. When I made this gown for Rachel it fit her perfectly. Elizabeth on the other hand is about 2 pounds smaller than Rachel was and it is a huge difference. The gown is a little big on her. She still looks cute, so that's okay. :)
