April Flew By

April began with the celebration of David's 8th birthday and we continued the partying with two more birthdays that month. Our foster boys turned 6 and my husband, stayed the same age he thought he was last year. His old age is a making him forget how old he really is.

Our Easter was pretty low key. We arrived to church earlier than normal to help with the pancake breakfast. Then the younger children hunted for Easter eggs and my husband preached a wonderful sermon. Later that evening we had a smaller crowd over and enjoyed supper and dessert with the Clemmers and Sampers!  
To close out the evening our children performed my favorite song from The Sound of Music. Enjoy! It's so sweet.


Our church softball team went out with a bang! By the end of the season I'm pretty sure the last team we played was a little shocked at how well we kept up with them.

At the end of April our friends, the Fienes, came out for a visit. Katie was a real trooper and listened to my girls read to her at the same time, attended baseball games, and even went to speech therapy with me and one of my foster boys. We did make it out to do a little shopping and hit up Starbucks. The last day of their visit we took them to Estes Park and we had dinner at Hans', now favorite Estes Park restaurant, Cheesy Lee's.

For as long as I can remember we've constantly been searching the MLS or Zillow for houses. My husband has flipped a few, and we've always been interested in a home with a bigger lot. Back in March we saw a home that we were interested in buying. By the end of April we decided to put our home on the market and start wheelin' and dealin' on the home we looked at back in March, thus begins the crazy that has become our life recently. Stay tuned for how it all went down. 

March Happenings

March found us with quite a full calendar. Along with Lenten services on Wednesday evenings we added church softball to our schedule and also began a little baseball for 5 of our children. Palm Sunday came at the end of the month. We love that Sunday and children were super excited to help out with palms again this year.



Opening day of baseball was cold and dreary. In fact, it was canceled when we arrived at the field. It was that kind of a season for us. 

Mt. Zion vs. Mt Zion

Last week we held our second annual Mt. Zion softball game. 

It was the inexperienced youth

versus the old and wise crowd.

There were plenty of spectators and food.

Our youth was a bit young this year, so the adults had to go a little easy on them.

The adults had to bat on the opposite side in which they are used to batting. That made for some fun!

They were still able to get some decent hits.

The youth made some decent outs too.

They also scored a few runs. The game was tight.

Then there was a game change. It was getting late and the children were hungry. They went to eat and the adults played against each other.

It was game on.

Balls were getting blasted.

Some of these guys hadn't played in years.

I even got to play a little. And, yes, I still have my socks and shoes from high school.

After refueling the all the children hit the field while the adults were famished and exhausted.

David didn't really play. He just wanted to run the bases. . . over and over again, so that's what he did.

My little girls were easily entertained. They enjoy the ball field too!

Storms were beginning to roll in, but I was able to catch a far off view of downtown.

The Big Game

Last Sunday our church played a big softball game. The youth challenged the adults to a game.

WIth guys like this you would think the youth didn't stand a chance.

But, they had youthfulness on their side. They could run and jump like this.

This is Cody. He really came through for the youth. He's trying to get a baseball scholarship, so if anyone knows of a college looking. . . 

This is his dad, Mark. Mark still has it. . .

There was a cheering section complete with pom-poms.

Several close plays were made.

There were some really great fans that braved the 90 degree heat.

My Lutheran Stud was the pitcher for the adult team.

We also had a grill going.

You can't go to a ball game and not have hot dogs. 

After the game the little youth wanted to play around.

By the way, the game was tight the entire time, but the youth pulled through with a grand slam, by Cody, to win the game. I think the adults want a rematch. You can check out the rest of the photos HERE. There are some pretty funny ones. ;)
