…must come to an end. Last week we spent an afternoon at church finishing up garden stuff. We picked all the beans we could. I had just picked and filled this basket ten days earlier thinking that was it. Anna was a great helper. She lightened my canning load a bit by eating whatever she could get her hands on. The kids hunted grasshoppers and Rachel was successful. She was quite the helper with the gardening, while the other kids played on the playground. We planted a second crop of peas when we returned from our trip this summer. The peas were out of control. We had quite an abundant crop of them, however, they aren’t a favorite in our household. Have no fear though, we will be eating plenty of them this winter, so I think everyone will learn to like them. :)
Once the crops were all picked we pulled out all the plants and Jared dug it all up. Here our garden lies, however it’s not as empty as you think. We’re growing a winter grass on it. We’ll see how it turns out.
Having been gone for three weeks this summer, I think we had quite a successful garden. We’re already working on how we can improve it next year and also thinking about what to grow. Share some ideas with us. We’d love to know your thoughts!
