Today we celebrate what would be Jonathan’s 7th birthday. Has it really been that long? Some days I remember having him around like it was just yesterday. We miss you Jonathan and rejoice in knowing that someday we will see you again.
“And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.” (John 16:22)In memory of Jonathan my mom has done such an incredible thing. Many of you who know us may know that my mom makes jewelry and every summer she sells her jewelry at the weekend market in Edmonds, WA. Well she heard of a little orphanage in Thailand that was trying to raise enough funds to build a playground for the children. She decided to sell her jewelry and give 100% of the profits to this school. They were able to build a playground, as well as buy some much needed clothing, medications, and some candy for the kids. Here some of the photos from the project.
Here they are unloading the playground equipment and setting it all up. Then they had a little ceremony to give everything to the orphanage.
I love this little teeter totter. I wish we had one in our backyard. :)
They even built a little sign for Jonathan. :) My mom has decided to do this every year. She is going to raise funds for different schools in Thailand by selling her jewelry. If you’d like to help or would like to buy some jewelry let me know and I will get you in contact with my mom!“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth forever.”
(I Chronicles 16:34)

We love you guys! I can't believe it's been 7 years already. You should post some pictures of your mom's jewelry. Does she only do Edmonds farmer's market or any others? I'd love to take the girls this summer and visit her :)
Yay for your Mom! What a wonderful thing to do. I love the pictures. Was your Mom the one taking them?
((hugs)) Jan. What a wonderful way to remember your baby boy.
Jan, you're in my prayers today. I can't wait to hold Jonathan in heaven . . . even though he won't need a baby rescuer! The playground is a beautiful tribute to your sweet little guy. How wonderful.
Now, go hug the rest of your children close today, and let them take care of you.
What an amazingly wonderful thing for your mom to do! I can imagine Thailand in a few year's time peppered with Jonathan's playgrounds...it was a perfect idea.
I agree with Brenda - I'd love to see pictures of your mother's jewelry!
I can't wait to meet your mom Jan. What a great way to remember that adorable little guy who came to visit us on the farm. I just came across my own picture of him from that trip recently.
Can you put up some pictures of her work sometime and a website?
XX and OO's to the rest of your troops.
oh jan, that is so beautiful! what a precious precious gift from your mom, not only to you but to all of those beautiful children.
i want to do something like that every year as well. this year, we sponsored a child in uganda-- school, clothing and 2 hot meals a day for a whole year. and it only cost $300. such a small price to make a big difference in the life of a child.
i would love to see your mom's jewelry. does she have a website?
I will try and post some photos of what I have, but my jewelry is pretty old. She doesn't have a website. :(
