I started going through my maternity clothes again and as I was looking through everything I noticed that a few shirts had holes in them or were thread bare. I guess after that many pregnancies things wear out. Not wanting to buy more clothes I decided to make a few tops with fabric I have lying around. As I was surfing some sewing blogs I noticed a little contest going on and decided to enter. I can't believe I got these done in time! These will probably be the only maternity pictures you will see of me, so enjoy them while it lasts. I had Rebecca take these photos with our old camera. (My camera was a little too heavy for her.)
For these tops I used Simplicity pattern number 4584. I have used this pattern before, however, I didn't necessarily care for the fit so I tweaked it. See below.
I absolutely love Jennifer Paganelli's fabrics. I used fabric from Mod Girls and the stripes is from her Girlfriends line. And look! They match the purses I made too. Can't go wrong there.

YOU AMAZE ME!! Love the tops, so cute. You are so creative. Very, very, very cool.
Alright, we get to see a picture of you an here!!! Love the tops, I'm putting in my order for next time (in a year or so).
I saw your cute tops on the Spring Top flickr group and stopped over to check out your blog. These are great and I just love the stripes. What a great idea to add the shirring. I'm not a fan of puffy shirts either! I have yet to try this technique. Did you just sew rows with elastic thread in your bobbin.
totally what Tina said..gorgeous woman gorgeous maternity top!!!!!Way to go girlie..
Jan, you are my hero!
Thank you for all the sweet comments! You guys are way too kind.
Lorna, yes, I did the shirring with elastic in my bobbin. Then I actually sewed it all at once by going back and forth instead of one row at a time.
Jennifer, if you are ever in Denver I would love to meet you and drool over your fabrics!
You are so talented and have such a good eye for style!
"I decided to make a few tops with fabric I have lying around." Oh yeah. Totally. I do that all the time, you know, in my spare time. And they always turn out fantastically cute. I mean, why wouldn't they?
JAN!!! Seriously. You have successfully giving the rest of us who can't hardly thread a needle a horrible sewing complex.
Ok, ok, in all reality, I stand in awe. But geez. I mean, give the rest of us a break here!
I'll take one in tall girl size!
Those are darling! Great fabric choices and super cute style.
Hugs,
Shannon
