Chicken with an Asian Twist

_MG_5837.jpgKFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) may have their big bucket of chicken, but around here we have our big bag of chicken with an Asian flair.
20100910_0006.jpgDrumsticks are a favorite around here. All of the children fight over them, so why not just buy a whole package of drumsticks? It works out well that way.
20100910_0012.jpgLet's marinate our chicken shall we? Here's everything you need. Easy peasy right?
20100910_0015.jpgThrow your chicken into a large ziploc bag. Then pour in some soy sauce.
20100910_0018.jpgChop up your cilantro. For this big batch I used  a whole bundle.
20100910_0022.jpgDon't forget your salt and pepper. No need to measure. Just dump a little or a lot in there, depending on your taste buds.
20100910_0023.jpgLet's add some sweetness to the whole thing by throwing in some sugar.
20100910_0028.jpgGarlic is one of the best foods that God has created, so lets throw that in the bag too!
20100910_0032.jpgSquish everything all around until it's blended well. Then stick it in your fridge for a few hours.
_MG_5832.jpgAround dinner time stick those babies on the grill and cook them up. In the winter I stick them in the oven and broil them. Mmm. . .
_MG_5839.jpgServe with that awesome cucumber salad I posted the other day and a side of sticky rice!

My Mom's Thai Chicken
  • chicken drumsticks and thighs about 6-7 pounds
  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 5 or 6 cloves garlic
All ingredient measurements are approximate. Throw everything in a bag to marinate. Grill on medium for about 15 minutes on each side.

I can't do cilantro. But I do remember liking them when you served them with your awesomely awesome pot stickers. Delish!
