Freshen Up

_MG_2298.jpgMy friend Carissa did a segment on Colorado's Best  the other day. With the holidays coming you're sure to be getting together with plenty of family and friends. Carissa shares some great products to have your skin glowing in just a short time. We all want to look our best when getting together with family and friends, right? One of those products happens to be Lexli's Aloe Base Lightening Lift.
_MG_2302.jpgI've been using this mask for about a month now. I absolutely love it. I noticed a difference right away. My skin was looking a little drab and dull. I used this mask and as I washed it off, my skin felt incredibly soft. My age spots, if you will, were a bit lighter and my skin just looked renewed.

Check out Carissa's segment. Then check out her blog Hooked On Beauty. If you're curious about a certain product most likely she has tried it and you might find it on her blog.  She recently gave it a makeover and it looks great!

Makeup Mania

MM3Katie, Marcia, and I finally made it to Makeup Mania. If you love makeup or if you even wear just a little bit this place is for you. If you aren’t in the Denver area you can check out their store online.

MM1Makeup Mania is owned and operated by Eva who used to be a makeup artist in Hollywood. (She did makeup for the ladies in the Joy Luck Club movie.) She decided to get out of Hollywood, moved back to Colorado, and opened Makeup Mania.  Halloween is HUGE for them. They spend hours and days making people up in their costumes. If you need makeup for your costumes next year this is the place to go.MM2Not only do they carry makeup, they have makeup accessories and a lot of skincare products as well.MMCarissa has blogged about Makeup Mania quite a bit so we have all been excited to visit the store in person. It just so happened that the day we went Carissa was giving a makeup lesson there. She and Eva helped us pick out colors and we played with all the fun stuff!    MM8  Here’s my loot! These La Femme eye shadows are great and at $3.00 a pop you can’t go wrong! They are long wearing shadows. After a long day they haven’t budged off of my eyes.  It doesn’t take much to get the color you are looking for either. It’s great!

MM7

I also picked up a little Graftobian Hi Def Foundation and I have to say this stuff rocks! It doesn’t take much and gives excellent coverage. I just apply with my awesome Beauty Blender and I get a nice even finish. It’s lightweight and long lasting as well.

Hooked On Beauty Swap Video

Last month Katie and I went to a makeup swap hosted by Carissa. There was a photographer there by the name of Chris. He had cameras set up everywhere and got a ton of video footage as well. He put together a super cool video of the event. Check it out HERE.  You'll get to see Carla working on my brows and Eva, from Makeup Mania doing my makeup. I finally got the chance to visit her store. More on that later. Enjoy the video!

Circus Time!

T7 Grab a little makeup.T5Find a cute little boy. T1Let’s create a clown!T2Thomas was lucky enough to do this two times. Carissa didn’t get a chance to practice before hand, so she did a trial run before doing it again for the real video.T6    Elizabeth is a little confused. She’s not sure if we should be doing this. I asked her if she wanted her face painted and she just looked at me like I was some crazy lady.T4 Here is Thomas seeing himself for the first time. Carissa is holding up a mirror. He thinks he looks so cool. He couldn’t wait to get home and show all the neighbor kids.Thomas2Here’s the final shot. This was the second round of clown makeup. It’s an 80’s Girl

R80s

Last week was a crazy week for us, thus there was very little blogging. I am hoping to catch up soon. We met up with my friend Carissa to help her out with a Halloween segment featured on Walmart’s website. Rebecca2 Rebecca3 What are your kids going to be for Halloween? Are you a child of the 80s? If you were this costume might be great for your kids. Just dig up some of your old things and transform your daughter into a child of the 80s. It’s perfect and super easy.

Here’s the beautiful work Carissa did transforming Rebecca. Check out the entire video HERE. She has a great tutorial, and it doesn’t just have to be for kids. You too, can relive your childhood. She uses some really fun makeup.

Big Fat Cupcake

BFC66  Raise your hand if you love cupcakes! Of course you do. Who doesn’t? They are the perfect sized little cake that just happens to provide great comfort and happiness. Don’t you agree?BFC51 This past week I had the honor of shooting an event for Big Fat Cupcake. I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely and talented Kathleen, owner of BFC. You see it was just three years ago that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Going through all her chemo treatments took a toll on her body leaving her unable to work. She used to be a chiropractor. Being unable to work and pay her bills, her home eventually went into foreclosure. Through all of this she found comfort by baking. Out all that baking came a  cupcake bakery which she now owns and operates.BFC39This is where these beautiful ladies come in. Kathleen decided to start a foundation  to help others, with cancer, to pay bills that they have trouble paying. Having created this foundation she came up with the idea to create a calendar with the help of her friends and employees.BFC19
That’s right. These beautiful ladies were made up to be pin up models! They held an event to launch the calendar at the JW Marriott’s Second Home. It was a lovely event. If you are ever in the Denver area be sure to stop by Big Fat Cupcake. You will not be disappointed.BFC4    If you can’t make it to the store you can still pick up some cupcakes by finding the cupcake truck!BFC70 Thanks to my friend Carissa for giving me a big push to shoot this event. You can check out some more of the photos HERE or view the slideshow below.

It’s a Swap!

Swap Flyer   Last week my friend Carissa  hosted a makeup swap at StudioWed! Are you getting married or know of someone who will be getting married soon? If you do, you should check this place out. It rocks! StudioWed has everything you are looking for in one place. It’s like a one stop shop.

Makeup6Anyways, I dragged Katie out for a night on the town. We had such a great time. I wish we could do this every week. Makeup2 Here’s a little sampling of some of the things up for the swap. There was a ton of stuff to choose from.Makeup3That’s Carissa in the middle. Melissa and Amy flew in from Boston to co-host. They are part of Swap.com. It’s the new thing these days, so check it out. It’s not just for makeup.Makeup My Big Fat Cupcake provided the best, out of this world cupcakes for everyone. They were fantastic. If you are in the Denver area you should pick up a few cupcakes or hunt down their cupcake truck. You can never go wrong with champagne and cupcakes!Makeup4 Not only were there cupcakes, but Eva, from Makeup Mania, was there giving makeup advice and doing makeovers, while brow expert Carla was shaping brows. Those were much needed services for me. ;)  Makeup7Steubens food truck also stopped by to feed us all.Makeup9I had a green chile cheeseburger. It was quite tasty. It was perfectly cooked and the green chile added a great kick. Makeup8

Steuben’s, so I’ve heard, is known for their gravy fries. I had to try them and they did not disappoint. Wow! If you like gravy, you’ll love these fries.

Makeup, champagne, cupcakes, burgers, fries, and great friends. What more could a girl ask for?
