This is my grandma; my maternal grandma. She is sitting here with my dad’s aunt. Believe it or not, my dad’s aunt is the receptionist for my aunt’s resort in Thailand. That’s right. If you call this fancy resort in Thailand you will talk to my dad’s aunt. Who needs retirement anyway right? It’s overrated. So here’s another story for you. My mom was in Thailand buying some of these clothes hanger thingys for our clotheslines. Pretty cool right? They hold a lot of stuff without taking up much room. She bought four of these hangers and some clothes pins. See below. Now remember my grandma? She’s 90 years old. That’s right. 90. She has a person. You know, someone who takes care of her and does things for her. She’s 90, so she gets that luxury. :) So anyway, she didn’t think I had enough clothes pins. One evening while my mom was in town she snuck out when no one was watching her. She hailed a cab. Not just any cab, but a motorcycle cab. She went out and bought me some more clothes pins. That’s right. I have the best grandma ever! She’s 90 years old and rides a motorcycle to buy me stuff. Now does your grandma do that? I didn’t think so.
I am waiting for my laundry to be done to hang it on the line when I decided to look some blogs. I am drooling over those clothes pins your grandma bought you! They look like they would last forever!
ReplyDeleteIs this the Ama and Aunt that I met? They look awfully familiar. Oh, what great memories... I still remember how to say "I'm full" in Thai :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet it almost makes me cry! I miss my Korean grandmother so very much. I wish I was older when she was still here... when you are a little kid, you can be such a brat to those you love the most. I have such a soft spot for elderly Asians. You are very blessed!
ReplyDeleteMy maternal grandma sounds a lot like yours! She made a homemade version of those clothesline hangers and used it often. Basically just tied clothespins to a big sturdy hanger. This is international clothesline week-good time to post this! My grandma went in a canoe when she was over 80 and amazed us what she did until she died at almost age 97.
