Photography Gear

I have had questions about my camera and the things I use for editing. I am far from being a professional or knowing what I am doing, but I’m glad you enjoy my photos and have taken an interest. I am self taught. I have read a lot of books and several articles on the internet. I don’t think that having the best camera gear will instantly make you an outstanding photographer. It takes a ton of practice, especially if you don't know a whole lot about photography.  Before you go out and spend a ton of money on a "nice camera" I would recommend reading books or articles, particularly about aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.  You may also want to pick up a book on composition.   All of these things will help jump start your move to a "nice camera" or you may find that the camera you have is pretty good and you just never knew how to properly use it.  At any rate, I thought I would make a little list of my gear for you!  Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.  I would love to hear from you.

My camera is a Canon 7D

I have fallen in love with prime lenses.
My favorite is this Canon 85mm f/1.8. I love this lens for portraits and low light indoors.
Another great low light lens is the Canon 50mm f/1.4.  It also creates amazing bokeh.

I recently acquired this Canon 17-40mm for its wide angle performance. While it does not do well in low light I love it for shooting large groups of people and gorgeous landscapes.

For those times when you really need a zoom the Canon 55-250mm is a great inexpensive lens.  The IS on this lens is incredible!

I have Adobe CS3 Creative Suite for my photo editing, although I only use Photoshop and have no idea how to use the other programs. Maybe someday I'll learn them.
