We Did NOT Evolve From Gorillas!

_MG_6673.jpgThis big Silverback Gorilla put on quite a show for us while we were at the zoo. Our family always enjoys the gorillas. In fact it has to be one of our favorite exhibits, until now.
_MG_6675.jpgBe prepared to be completely disgusted. Just looking at this guy you would think he's just hanging out, right? Wrong. He's reaching for something. Wait for it. . .
_MG_6676.jpgYes. What you are thinking is in fact what he's doing. Are you grossed out?
IMG_7364.jpgMy mom got this shot with her camera. Ewww!!! Seriously. This here has to prove Darwin's theory wrong. . . right? I'm not sure I can go back to this exhibit.  Ewww, again!

Oh my. At the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo last year I saw a gorilla do some sick, unspeakable things! Things that involved every type of body fluid. Definitely NOT our evolutionary ancestors...

Obviously you are not familiar with Darwin's theory. Neither he nor any other scientist ever claimed that we descend FROM gorillas or apes, but that we descend from a common ancestor.

Random note: Humans too often do gross/disgusting things...

Calling Richard Dawkins! Calling Richard Dawkins! Still sure about that evolution thing? 'Cause . . .

Carys, it's been several years since I've read up on Darwin's theory, and yes, you are right when you say that we didn't descend directly from apes, but I still don't believe that we descend from a common ancestor either. As a Lutheran Christian I believe that God created man out of dust.

Well, that makes for some good entertainment. NOT!

I have witnessed other primates at our zoo doing the exact same thing more than once. It was the male mandrill last time. So gross!

Ryan and I's first date was at the zoo to the romantic tune of...a monkey pleasuring himself! We still laugh about it.
