Lent

For dust you are and to dust you shall return. Genesis 3:19

The season of Lent is a wonderful reminder of where we, as Christians, come from. The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Genesis 2:7-8

It is also a time of reflection where we, as Christians, remember what Christ has done for us on the cross and repent of our sins.  If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:8-9
And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 1 John 2:2

Lent also reminds us not to get too comfortable in this world because, as Christians, we are only here for a short time. Our lives belong in heaven with our Lord. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where theirves break in a steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where theives do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21

Have a blessed Lenten season. Pray daily and thank the Lord for all He has done for us!
