Bottles

Okay, Robin. This post is for you. I don't know if it will be much help to you. At any rate maybe it will give some insight. I have used Avent bottles with all of my kids since Rebecca was born. Most of these bottles have lasted through six kids. I'm not sure why I originally chose them; I think maybe because they were new on the market and they looked neat. I tried a few other bottles that people gave to us, but I always returned to these. They are strong and sturdy. I haven't really had a problem with them until maybe the last couple of kids. I began to notice some leaking every once in a while between the ring and bottle. So as some of my bottles have begun to wear out, get cracks in them, I decided to try something else. This decision lead me to these new bottles called Born Free.

Currently, I believe there is a BPA-free rage around here and maybe everywhere. Bottles have been pulled from the shelves and new BPA free bottles are being made. I don't know if it's all real or not. I haven't seen a problem with any of my children. With all the BPA rage I decided to try these Born Free bottles. Again, I think I chose them because they looked neat or maybe they were on sale. I have been using them with Elizabeth and I actually really love them. I still use our Avent bottles, the ones I haven't thrown out. These Born Free bottles are actually a little more heavy duty making me think that they will hold up longer. They are also more narrow than the Avent bottles which I think will make it easier for Elizabeth to hold. The nipples for both bottles are silicone. I go back and forth on which I like better. The Born Free nipples are thinner making them more prone to ripping, but they are also softer. I haven't had a problem with either of them, so I will leave that for you to decide. The other thing with Born Free bottles is that there are two extra pieces. It is called their venting system. That's two extra pieces to clean. I haven't had a problem there either.
Both bottles claim that their bottles help prevent colic and babies swallow less air. I haven't had any colicky babies. As for swallowing air and spitting up I don't know. Elizabeth is a spitter. She spits up all the time at any time of the day. That's just her. It doesn't matter which bottle I use, she still spits up the same amount with every feeding and it's a lot. Her doctor says since she is gaining weight, not irritable after she eats, or isn't fussy then she's just a spitter. I guess it gets better around 9 mths. We have a long way to go then. Well, I hope this was helpful to some of you.

Hi! I have never posted a comment on your blog, but have been following for a while! I found you on I Heart Faces a while back. Such an adorable family!!! Anyway, I LOVE the Born Free bottles. I only have one child, but did a lot of research on bottles before I had her. It was between these and doctor browns. So glad I picked these. I have never had a problem and have also used their training cups! Lily had a hard time switching to a sippy, but theirs seemed to work great!
